Effect of Organic and Non Organic Acids on the Blend PES/PS/PVDF Polymer Membranes Efficiency for Microbial Fuel Cell

چکیده

In this work proton exchange membranes were prepared by a modified microwave casting solution technique, using the polymers blend (polyethersulfone (PES), polystyrene (PS), polyvinylidenefluride (PVDF)). Modified method was used to overcome poor compatibility between hydrophilic, (PES, PS) and hydrophobic PVDF, cooling substrate during film process (4.5-5.5oC). Membranes chemically three reaction types study differences their effects on required properties for microbial fuel cell application. These methods use organic sulfonic acid precasting sulfonation sulfuric post-casting (APS), blending (AS) (AP). The presence of confirmed via FTIR spectra membranes. characterized conductivity, ion capacity (IEC), [-SO3H] value, water uptake. MFC is electrochemical polarization tests power densities obtained from it evaluate efficiency membrane in cell.

IMMOBILIZATION OF MICROBIAL CELLS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ORGANIC ACIDS

Techniques of immobilization of microbial- cells have been established by multifunctional reagents such as glutaraldehyed on a solid support. Immobilized cell reactor was designed to demonstrate stability of cross linking of whole cells for the production of organic acids. An eighty-six percent conversion of glucose was obtained for an eight hour retention time. The immobilized cell reacto...

PES/Quaternized-PES Blend Anion Exchange Membranes: Investigation of Polymer Compatibility and Properties of the Blend

Polyethersulfone (PES)-based anion exchange blend membranes were prepared from quaternized-PES (Q-PES) and N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) casting solutions with water as coagulant via non-solvent induced phase inversion. The compatibility of the blend system was investigated through thermodynamic studies while membrane formation was determined using the cloud point techni...
